Towards the Morning Sun is an exhibition that celebrates contemporary Pacific art and community engagement. It features well-known and emerging Pacific artists including: Torika Bolatagici, Eric Bridgeman, Maureen Lander, Brett Graham, Rosanna Raymond, Niki Hastings-McFall, Latai Taumoepeau, Sam Tupou and Salote Tawale.
Curated by Australian-based and New Zealand-born artist Keren Ruki, Towards the Morning Sun explores the practices and processes of artists who engage with elements of Pacific culture. The works presented in the exhibition range across different mediums, including performance art, print-making, installation art, and multimedia.
The exhibition presents both existing artworks by the artists, as well as newly commissioned works created through collaboration between the artists and the local Pacific community.
Towards the Morning Sun is on at the Campbelltown Arts Centre and runs from September 7 until October 21. The exhibition will be officially opened on September 6 at 6:30pm.
